METBALTIC secondment to NTUA
As part of the YADES project, Jurgita Šikšnienė from Metis Baltic completed a secondment at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) from March to September 2023, focusing on WP5—Earth Observation, Sensor Data, and Geospatial Services for Cultural Heritage Resilience. During her time at NTUA, Jurgita gained in-depth knowledge of Earth observation techniques, including the use of terrestrial and satellite imaging for large-scale cultural heritage monitoring. Additionally, she contributed to the development of a conceptual framework for routine cultural heritage monitoring using vehicle and drone-based sensors. Jurgita also gained insights into community engagement strategies to incorporate active participation in resilience planning. Upon her return to Metis Baltic, she shared her expertise with her team, strengthening the organization’s capacity to apply innovative, data-driven approaches to cultural heritage preservation and disaster preparedness.
